Welcome to 5th and 6th grade math!
I am an educator that uses a wide range of resources including the modules, textbooks, math workshop stations, and other activities/worksheets in order to present the material in the most engaging and informational way. I do have the students complete fluency practice (sprints) in both 5th and 6th grade classes in order to assist in bridging any misunderstandings as we work through the concepts. I am also a believer in handing out homework assignments, not as filler work, but to practice the concepts learned in class. It is about Quality not Quantity.
Students will be expected to complete homework INDEPENDENTLY by utilizing their notebook as well as the practice problems we complete in class. They are expected to do their own BEST work on each assignment, showing their complete work and writing answers in complete sentences for ANY word problems.
Before any assessment, I give students adequate and ample time and practice in class as well as send home a review guide to help them practice at home. It is the responsibility of the students to look through their notebook/practice packets, along with asking questions during breaks or in class to help clarify misunderstandings. :-)
